| Hot dog bun, split | 2 |
| Ground beef | 1 lb. |
| Tomato sauce | 28 oz. |
| Diced tomatoes | 14 oz. can |
| White onion, medium dice | ½ cup |
| Minced garlic | 2 tsp. |
| Paprika | 1 Tbsp. |
| Chili powder | 1 Tbsp. |
| Stone ground mustard | 1 Tbsp. |
| Fresh lemon juice | 1½ tsp. |
| Worcestershire sauce | 2 tsp. |
| Tabasco sauce | 2 tsp. |
| Ground ginger | 1/8 tsp. |
| Ground cloves | dash |
| Ground cinnamon | dash |
| Freshly ground black pepper | |
| Salt | |
| Olive oil, for sautéing |
Method:
- In a medium sized, heavy-bottom pot, sauté onions in olive oil for 3-5 minutes. Add garlic and sauté for an additional minute. Add ground beef and brown until it is no longer pink. If desired, drain fat.
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, paprika, chili powder, mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, ginger, clove, and cinnamon. Stir together and simmer until the ground beef mixture thickens, approximately 1 hour. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Place grilled dog in bun and top with ground beef mixture.
